Peugeot Lucky Motor Corporation (PLMC) has finally made its existence known in Pakistan’s webspace by opening an official website and a Facebook page, following multiple murmurs in the market about the brand’s introduction.
While the portal does not tell much about the company’s plans for the launch of its vehicles in Pakistan, the website has provided some fascinating details about the Peugeot automobiles that are on their way to the country’s market.
According to the website, PLMC intends to make the following vehicles available to the general population in Pakistan
The brand garnered a lot of popularity in Pakistan before its launch due to multiple appearances of the eye-catching Peugeot 2008 on Pakistani roads. It is a subcompact crossover SUV that will most likely compete with Lucky Motor Corporation’s (LMC) Kia Stonic and the MG ZS.
It will be driven by a 1.2-liter turbocharged 3-cylinder petrol engine that produces 131 horsepower (hp) and 220 Newton-meters (Nm) of torque through a 6-speed automated transmission to the front wheels.
The futuristic cabin of a modern Peugeot is one of its most enticing features. The 2008 SUV will come standard with Peugeot’s brand new 3D i-Cockpit, which includes a 7′′ HD capacitive touchscreen and configurable head-up instrument panel, keyless entry and start, multiple drive modes, a panoramic sunroof, a modern infotainment unit with mobile phone connectivity, and several other high-tech features.
Adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, blind-spot detection, hill-start assist, lane-keeping assist, electronic stability programming (ESP), drowsiness detection, road sign, and speed limit recognition and recommendation, 180-degree camera, overhead vehicle view, and other modern features will be available on the Peugeot 2008.
Given its current features, the Peugeot 2008 is set to be a formidable competitor in Pakistan’s burgeoning subcompact SUV market.
Given the significant surge in popularity of compact crossover SUVs, every carmaker is attempting to carve out a niche in this market. The Peugeot 3008 is a compact crossover SUV that competes with the Hyundai Tucson, the MG HS, the Proton X70, the DFSK Glory, and the Kia Sportage.
The SUV will be available in Pakistan with a 1.6-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder petrol engine that produces 162 horsepower and 240 Nm of torque and distributes it to the front wheels or all four wheels (depending on the model) via a 6-speed automated transmission. The lineup will also most likely feature a hybrid version of the 3008 SUV, which will be more powerful and fuel-efficient.
The 3008 SUV, like its smaller sibling, is equipped with the i-Cockpit, which includes the same technology and features as the 2008 SUV, as well as a more upmarket Focal 10-speaker sound system, a larger infotainment unit with Android Auto and Apple Carplay, and an onboard navigation system that informs of various traffic zones, speed-cam zones, parking spaces, and so on.
The 3008 has all of the same current safety features as the 3007, but it also has a night-vision camera, automated emergency braking, mild-offroad settings as part of the Advanced Grip Control (AGC) function (All-Wheel Drive models only), Hill-Descent Control (HDC), and Lane Departure Warning (LDW), and a few other high-tech driver-assist features.
Although the price is not yet known, the features do place the 3008 in the upper echelon of compact crossover SUVs in the Pakistani market.
Despite the fact that the market for midrange 7-seater crossover SUVs in Pakistan appears to be restricted, Peugeot appears to be gearing up to compete in the heavyweight category with its 5008 SUV, a midsize 7-seater crossover SUV that will compete with the Kia Sorento and the Toyota Fortuner.
The SUV will be powered by the same 1.6-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder petrol engine that produces 162 horsepower and 240 Nm of torque and distributes it to the front wheels or all four wheels (depending on the model) via a 6-speed automated transmission.
The 5008 is equipped with the same convenience features as the smaller Peugeot SUVs, with the addition of 7 passenger seats. a new 10″ HD central touchscreen, a 12.3″ head-up digital instrument panel, heated, ventilated, and messaging front seats, and multi-zone climate vents for rear-seat comfort.
The safety features are also the same, with the addition of a 360-degree camera, automated emergency braking, parking assist, semi-autonomous driving capability, and the option to use the ‘My Peugeot’ App to monitor vehicle position, event data, maintenance schedule, and so on.
The 5008 is one of the most well-equipped midsize crossover SUVs in Pakistan, giving it a significant advantage over its rivals.
Although it is unknown when these cars would make their debut in Pakistan, their impending presence has been confirmed by PLMC, due to photos on the front and center of the official website.
