Cars are complex machines and things that are often wrong with them. Having adequate knowledge of how it works from their needs can save a lot of time, money, energy, and sadness.

The car owner will do good to do the basic inspection of their own AC units. Here are some checks that can be done by the driver if the air conditioner from their vehicle stops working.

Engine Overheating

Vehicles tend to be too hot in high temperatures or demanding environments such as hilly areas, and the driver must oversee the temperature gauge to prevent it.

If the air conditioner stops working in such conditions, chances are the engine is too hot. The driver must park the car on the side of the road and wait at least one hour for the cold machine.

Cabin Filter

The cabin filter serves to filter small particles of dust in the air and needs to be examined occasionally. If the airspeed is slower than usual (do not blow cold air with sufficient power), the cabin filter located behind the dash can be swept.

The driver can gently pull the dashboard, extract the cabin, and check it under the light source. If the light does not pass the filter, it can be assumed that the filter is clogged and needs to be replaced. The driver can replace this alone.

AC Fuse

If the air conditioner stops working and the machine is not too hot, then the problem may be a short circuit in the fuse box.

The driver can check the AC fuse in the fuse box that is under the hood or beside the driver’s feet.

A short circuit fuse can also be determined by checking whether the AC fan on the radiator does not rotate when the air conditioner lights up.

It is recommended for the owner to refer to the owner’s manual or take a vehicle to mechanics to combine the fuse if they do not understand the electrical work.

AC Coolant

If the engine is not too hot, or if the AC fan on the radiator works properly but the AC does not blow cold air, the driver must have an AC cooler checked by a professional.

AC uses a gas called R134a to cool the air, and it can leak in a rare case. However, checking or refilling coolers is a risky task and only must be done by trained professionals.

AC can also have technical problems such as damaged condensers caused by road debris, or damaged compressors if (AC) has not been used for a long time.

Because these problems are very technical and need practical knowledge about the way of AC inner work, they may only be checked by a trained professional.

So that was few tips if your car AC has stopped working on the road or at home check them first.
