Why an 8-Year-Old Suzuki Swift DLX 2012 Beats the Latest Cultus

In today’s episode of PakWheels Owner’s Review series, we sit down with the owner of a Suzuki Swift DLX 2012, who boldly claims that an 8-year-old Swift is a far superior choice to the latest Suzuki Cultus. Intriguing, right? Well, let’s dive into the owner’s rationale.

Suzuki Swift DLX Purchase Decision and Price

As a brief backstory, the owner initially purchased a used Suzuki Cultus 2008 in January 2020 for 7 lacs and 30 thousand rupees. He drove the 1000cc Cultus for 11 months and then sold it for the same amount he bought it for—a true value-for-money deal.

Subsequently, the owner sought a more powerful and spacious vehicle to accommodate his family of five within a price range of 12 to 13 lacs. After diligent research on PakWheels Forums, consulting friends, and narrowing it down to three options—Toyota Vitz, Daihatsu Mira, and Suzuki Swift—he stumbled upon a well-maintained used Swift on PakWheels’ used car listings. Following a test drive and an impressive 8.0 rating on the PakWheels Inspection report, he sealed the deal.

In December 2020, the previous Cultus owner became the proud owner of a used 1300cc Suzuki Swift 2012 DLX for 12 lacs and 80 thousand rupees.

Fuel Efficiency

One of the owner’s initial concerns was the fuel efficiency of the Swift. He had heard rumors that it wouldn’t surpass 10 or 11 kilometers per liter in the city. Fortunately, those claims turned out to be unfounded. The Swift offers a commendable mileage of 13 kilometers per litre in the city without AC and approximately 12.5 kilometers with AC. Compared to the 14 km/l fuel average of his Cultus, the owner has no complaints.

Suzuki Swift DLX Comfort and Space

The owner firmly believes that the comfort level of the Cultus pales in comparison to the Suzuki Swift. The Swift boasts plush and inviting seats, ample space for five passengers, and a generous trunk for family trips.

Suzuki Swift DLX AC Performance

The Swift’s air conditioning system performs admirably, delivering efficient cooling even on the lowest setting. Unlike Cultus and other 1000cc cars, switching on the AC doesn’t sap the car’s power.

Ground Clearance and Parts Availability

With excellent ground clearance and stability, the Swift handles even a full complement of five passengers. Additionally, the availability of Suzuki Swift parts in the local market, offered at prices similar to, if not lower than, Cultus parts, adds to the vehicle’s appeal. The owner even acquired a reverse parking camera and an Android screen from PakWheels Auto Store at reasonable prices.

Suzuki Swift DLX Missing Feature

The sole feature the owner laments not having in his Suzuki Swift DLX 2012 is airbags.

Pros and Cons of Suzuki Swift Pros

Pros
  • Powerful 1300cc engine Spacious and comfortable Feature-packed Outstanding road grip Excellent value for money
Cons
  • Lack of airbags

Final Verdict on Suzuki Swift

According to the owner of the Suzuki Swift DLX 2012, this car outshines the Suzuki Cultus in terms of power, comfort, and features. He concludes, “You can easily get a 2011-2012 Swift at the price of a 2014-2015 Cultus. If I had the same budget, I’d make the same decision all over again.”
