Sindh Government Imposes Two-Day Ban on Pillion Riding for 12 Rabi-ul-Awal Celebrations

The Sindh government has recently announced a two-day prohibition on pillion riding throughout the province during the 12 Rabi-ul-Awal festivities. This restriction will be enforced on the 11th and 12th of Rabi-ul-Awwal, encompassing all cities in the province, including Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, and Larkana.

Despite the ban, specific exemptions are in place. Notably, women, children below the age of 12, senior citizens, uniformed security personnel, essential service workers, and journalists are exempt from this prohibition, provided they possess valid official identification or press credentials. Additionally, the federal government has declared a public holiday in honor of Eid Milad-un-Nabi, scheduled for September 29th of the current year.

The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has confirmed its closure on the upcoming Friday, September 29, 2023, in observance of Eid Milad-un-Nabi. Alongside this, commercial banks will also remain closed on this day, extending to the banking sector. The Pakistan Stock Exchange Limited (PSX) had previously announced its closure on the same date.

Annually, Muslims worldwide commemorate the birth of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) on the 12th of Rabi-ul-Awwal, recognized as Eid Milad-un-Nabi.
